    1. Azucena: I liked the part when you put that " You better not touch my baby or Thunder or i will slap you in the face tie you up and then throw you down the hill!" The way she would say it sounds funny but so serious. So great job.

About 2000 years ago, in the city of Pompeii. There was a little dog named Thunder. He was 4 years old and was a brown dog. His owner’s name was Juno. Juno was 10 years old. Juno’s mother’s name was Augusta. Juno and her mother had long hair and both wore long flowing robes. Juno and her mother loved to eat fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, wine and nuts. Thunder loved to eat meat too.

One day, there was a lot of rumbling. Juno’s mother realized that the volcano nearby named Mount Vesuvius was very close. She thought that is was probably Mount Vesuvius going to erupt very soon. Then she said to Juno, “Come on! I think Mount Vesuvius is about to erupt soon!” Juno was very scared. So Juno and her mother started packing all there things. They both were very scared. The next morning they left the house onto a boat, to leave Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius.

The date they left the house was August 24th 79 AD in the morning. And they forgot Thunder. That was the day he died.

I really liked your story because when you used sensory details like when you said the ground was rumbling it made me feel like the floor was actually moving

    2. Pelin: I like the detail you used when you wrote what Juno and Thunder liked to eat, I also got sad when Thunder died in the end.

  3. Vienna: Yawwwn…… I flutter my eyes open with the sun shining directly on my furry face. I jump up and I run to my master, Juno and I pounce on her. Juno quickly says “Stop it Thunder!” I try to get her attention again but she was ignoring me and she is anxiously talking to her mother. “Mater!!! Why are so many earthquakes happening around here!” “Should we move!” Juno exclaimed, “Oh!, you worry to much Juno, nothing is going to happen.” “Now hop out of bed and eat your breakfast!”

My master’s mater gives me my milk and I lap it up in a millisecond (okay, maybe not a millisecond probably a minute?). Juno eats a wheat pancake with dates and honey. In the afternoon Juno goes out and plays with her best friend Maxima. Sometimes I get jealous of them and try to ruin their game. I chase their little person thing and try to rip it up. But they start shouting at me. Sometimes I really don’t understand humans.

Maxima goes home and Juno’s mother gives me lunch. Right before I devour the juicy slab of meat, the ground under me starts to rumble. I look around and see Juno look a little worried. Buildings and houses start to shake and the some fall down. My owner’s mater looks a little concerned and glances outside. The rumbling stops soon (which feels like an hour ), and I eat the delicious meat. I start to doze off and I guess I fell asleep because I woke up with a giant rumble. I look around me and I see Juno and her mater running and getting the horses. Juno runs up to me and picks me up and puts me in the wagon. The rumbling starts becoming louder and harder. I hear people shout “monte eruptio!” which I think means volcano eruption. I think volcano eruption means that red hot stuff comes out from a mountain and it kills people and animals. Wait. Animals! I’m an animal so I might get burnt! I start to bark loudly. Juno and her mater starts the wagon. We run from Pompeii really fast. I see so much ash and fire. Pompeii is in ruins! We go to another city called Bari. So, now I am safely living Bari, Italy without any volcanoes stopping me.

    The volcano came to pompeii

Hi my name is thunder and today is August 23d 79AD. I live in pompeii my owners name is Juno and shes the best owner any dog can have and she's 19 and we live in a big house.

I was walking with my owner to the dog park and let me tell ya there was a lot of dogs to sniff. I went to a dog and her name was Rockina I asked if she had any friends she said yes but they weren't here and. I heard my owner Juno called that we have. Went home and my owner was cooking I barked for her to give me some food but she told ”I give you food later when im done”.The next hour Juno finally gave me food and I ran like a nerd running for a science fair and put my whole head in the bowl. Finally I was done and my whole face was covered in food June laughed and took a paper towel and wiped my face like if I was a baby I barked letting her know that i'm not a six month year old. I went upstairs to take a little nap.

The next day………………...I woke up still thinking that it was yesterday but then I looked at the calendar and was August,14 and I said “wow Im cooler than I think ” My owner Juno finally woke up and told me that were going to the dog park. I barked in circles chasing my tail of happiness. She went to the bathroom and changed to her clothes she came out and grab my blue fresh leash. I sat for to put it on me and sat still. We went down stairs before i ca get to the door Juno yelled ”wait we didn't have breakfast yet” She took out my food first because if not it's gonna get ugly. Once she picked up my bowl and put 3 and a half scoops I said it's go time she put my bowl down and here we go again i put my whole head in the bowl and ate like an gorilla. Like always when i'm done Juno takes a paper towel to wipe my face off. Now when she done treating me like im a 1 year old I ran to the door and behind comes Juno and opens the door we went to the dog park and I saw Rockina but before I can get to Rockina the floor started grumbling.

People started screaming and running Juno called me over as fast as her big mouth could but then I saw the volcano erupt me and Juno got in the car and headed for the ocean people started rowing as fast as there little fingers but the volcano erupted it was coming toward our house it went 10 times as much as a cheetah can run. Before me and Juno got on the boat I saw Rockina almost gonna get burned by the lava. I ran towards her it took me 30 seconds to get to her I grabbed her with my mouth and ran as fast as I could but I knew I wouldn't make it so I let Rockina go and gave her a push. Juno was calling for me to run but I didnt I told Rockina to go but she kept calling me but before I can say a word lava was already on my tail. Juno started running after she got here right before the lava can get to my body Juno grabbed me and started running I was very sore Juno was about to past Rockina but I barked she looked at her struggling to get to the boat Juno grabbed her and started running. She actually made it to the boat she put me and Rockina on the boat and started rowing. When I looked back the lava got threw all the city of pompeii but when it got to the water it started smoking because of the water. After that me Rockina and Juno knew that we were save I barked to tell he thank you but at the corner of the boat I saw Rockina shivering I barked again facing her she called her over and Juno rubbed her and now we are a happy family.

“Juno, come downstairs for breakfast!” I heard a strange voice calling to me in my dream. “Juno! Wake up!” I woke up with a start. I rubbed my eyes, then sat up in bed. My big sister was standing in the doorway. “Finally you’re up, I’ve been yelling at you and shaking you for an hour straight! Now hurry up and get dressed!” she demanded.
Then, she turned around and ran down the stairs. I yawned, then hopped out of bed. I walked over to her closet, opened it, grabbed a rose colored robe, and stumbled down the stairs.
I walked into the kitchen and found my sister at the counter, chopping up some strawberries. “Where’s Mother? Shouldn’t she be making breakfast, Valerie?” I asked as I sat down at the table. Valerie shook her head.
“Mother went out in the market to get some silk and the paper. So I’m in charge while she’s gone. While I’m cooking, can you go out and water the chrysanthemums in the garden, Juno?” Valerie asked. I nodded, then trotted out of the house and into the garden.
To my surprise, I saw a small, little animal trampling the chrysanthemums. “Hey, what are you doing?” I yelled as I ran to the animal. It cocked its head at me. “Oh, you’re a dog.” I sighed. The dog’s tail started to wag.
I ran my hand through its fur. So soft, I thought. Its fur was brown, and it had no collar. “Hey little guy! Wanna come inside?” I asked. Then, I ran to the back door. As if responding, the dog ran over to me. I walked into the house and ran into the kitchen.
Valerie was sitting at the table and had a biscuit in her hand. “Valerie! Valerie! Valerie! Guess what I found?” I shouted. Valerie didn’t get a chance to answer, because at that moment, the dog ran into the kitchen and jumped on Valerie’s lap.
Valerie shrieked. She stopped when she saw that it was only a dog. Valerie rubbed its head. “Aww, so cute!” Valerie marveled at the dog. I walked over to Valerie, picked up the dog, and set it down on the floor. “So, where did you find this little guy?” Valerie asked.
I pointed to the garden door. Valerie nodded, then gazed down at the dog. It was sniffing at the table. “What are we going to name it?” Valerie asked. We thought about that question for a moment.
“Oh, I know! Thunder!” I blurted out. Valerie nodded, then patted Thunder’s head. “Hey, I know what you need.” I said. I ran to the counter and opened the cabinet. I rummaged around for a bit until I found what I needed. I pulled out a yellow collar.
I raced towards Thunder and put the collar on him. Valerie smiled at Thunder. Then, she looked at the clock with a face of worry. “Mother should be home now. I hope something didn’t happen to her.” Valerie trembled.

  6. Devin:
“Woof woof” exclaimed Thunder who was excited for some random reason. Juno woke up from her nap and ran to take Thunder out in the garden. Then they heard a rumble and it happened a few more times then it stopped. Juno wondered what it was. They went back inside and ate some fruit and vegetables. Thunder was tired so he curled up on the floor and slowly fell asleep.

Thunder is 4 years old and has brown fur. Juno has long brown hair and wears a dress with flowers on it. She is 10 years old.

    August 24th 79 ad morning

Juno woke up to this sound “woof woof”. Thunder was barking super loud. Juno went to the market to get some food and then came back home to eat. After breakfast they went outside in the garden to play.

Then after some time they came back in and heard a rumble. Juno screamed “ahhh” Thunder barked “woof woof”. Then they saw a cloud of ash and a stream of lava falling out of the top of mount Vesuvius. They bolted out of the house. Lava was inching closer every second. Thunder hopped on a boat with Juno on his heels. Juno started to choke on the ash “ack”. She was coughing and the the lava reached her. She quickly hopped on the boat and they sailed away.

  7. Estela: Part 2
“Juno, stay here. I’ll go…” Thunder started to bark, which interrupted Valerie. He ran around in circles, then tugged at my leg. “Thunder, let go!” I yelled.
Just then, a bang went off in the distance. More bangs went off. “What is that?” Valerie yelled, but her voice was drowned out by the explosions. Valerie, Thunder, and I bolted out of the house. We gazed into the distance, and found the terrifying answer to the noise.
“M-Mount Vesuvius! It’s erupting!” I shrieked. Ash and smoke quickly filled the sky, making it seem like night fell too early. Lava was streaming down Mount Vesuvius. “We have to get Mother from the market, before it’s too late!” I cried.
As if responding, Thunder ran down the hill and into the town. Valerie and I were sprinting behind Thunder, panting for breath as we ran. Smoke filled my lungs, which made it harder for me to breathe.
Soon, we were in the marketplace. Huts were on fire, and people were running to the docks. Some were hiding in holes in the ground, or using anything that they can to make a shelter. “Mother! Where are you?” Valerie and I called. Thunder ran off into the distance.
Then, I could hear Thunder barking. “Mother must be over there! C’mon, Valerie!” I grabbed Valerie’s arm and started to run, following the sound of Thunder’s barking.
They finally arrived, and they saw Thunder licking their Mother. “Mother!” Valerie and I cried in unison. I started to hug Mother, but she pushed me away. “We have to get to the boats! Before it’s too…” An explosion went off in the distance.
Mother grabbed Valerie’s and my arms. “Let’s go!” Mother yelled. We ran through the ash and smoke, trying not to breathe in the horrible scent. Thunder was following us, barking all the way.
Suddenly, the volcano shot out pieces of molten rock, which hit me! I collapsed and cried for help, but Mother and Valerie were long gone. When I thought that all hope was lost, I heard feet thundering towards me.
“Mother?” I whispered. It wasn’t Mother. It was Thunder. He sprinted towards me with every bit of determination that he had. I stood up. I tried to walk, but I collapsed as soon as I took a step.
Thunder barked at me. I stood up again. This time, I leant on Thunder, who guided me to the docks. When we arrived, I saw Valerie and Mother in a boat. “Mother!” I yelled. Mother ran to me and picked me up.
“We have to hurry.” Mother spoke in a low whisper. She ran to the boat and set me down. She untied the rope that connected the boat to the dock and dropped it into the ocean. She grabbed the paddles and started to paddle, but I stopped her.
“What about Thunder?” I cried. Thunder was on the dock, barking at them. Mother glanced at the dog, but she didn’t get up. More lava streamed down the volcano. She kept rowing and rowing until they could barely see the dock anymore.
“No! Thunder!” I shrieked. Tears formed in my eyes. Just then, Thunder jumped into the water and started to swim towards the boat. “Hurry, Thunder!” Valerie yelled. Thunder was too late.
The volcano spewed out more volcanic rock, which landed in the ocean. A huge piece fell onto Thunder, making him sink below the surface. “No!” I cried. I jumped into the water and dove beneath the surface.
“Juno, get back here!” Mother called, but her voice was muffled by the explosions. I kept diving. I caught sight of Thunder’s brown fur. I grabbed the dog and started to return to the surface, but Thunder was too heavy.
Then a miracle happened. I felt arms tugging at my waist. I was then lifted out of the water with Thunder in my grasp. I was set back onto the boat, with Mother looking relieved. “Mother, we have to help Thunder!” I sputtered, coughing up the salty seawater.
Thunder was set on the boat too. He wasn’t moving. We all looked down at Thunder. “When we get to the island, we will help him.” Mother said. I was scared. I wasn’t scared of the volcano, I was scared of losing Thunder.
I suddenly felt really tired. I closed my eyes and fell into a deep, calm sleep.

It was a nice mourning on the 24th of august 79 A.D in Pompeii .There was a dog named thunder and his owner was rich which she had big house courtyard and big everything her name was Juno. She wore long robe had long hair and was 21.The only thing they ate was fruits vegetables.

They were playing in back and Juno exclaimed “catch thunder”. Thunder went and snacted the ball right out of the air. Thunder barked a couple of times because he was excited he caught the ball.

Later that day Juno went and had to go get food from the market and shouted “be right back boy I’ll am going to go get some fresh food from the market”! Thunder was thinking on what to do “I’ll just have some fun” he smiled. First he went in the back and started destroying the courtyard. BANG!BOOM!BANG! Went Thunder. He started thinked he was going to get in trouble. He barked and said “Oh well”. But at exact time he was going inside to destroy the inside Juno welled and asked “ What did you do while I was getting food?”. Bark! Went Thunder. “Bad boy!” Juno shouted. So Juno cleaned all the mess up and relaxed on the stone couch. She smirked “finally”.Then Thunder and Juno fell asleep on the stone coach.

The next day Juno heard rumbling outside she asked “what was that?”.Thunder barked “Bark bark!”. The volcano was erupting .Boom Boom! They thought they will be fine all of sudden they saw people dying. They were trying run fast but only Juno had died but Thunder survived the dangerous volcano.

I awoke to the sound of Mother. “Wake up, Junie! Wake up!” Mother was kneeling next to me. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I realized that I wasn’t on the boat anymore. I was on an island.
Palm trees stretched for miles, and there were no more huts to be seen. No more school. No more gardens. No more of anything. It was all destroyed on Pompeii. Then, I thought of something even more important.
“Thunder! Where is he?” I asked. Mother looked sad. She grabbed my hand and said, “Follow me.” Mother led me towards a grove. I saw Thunder, lying on the ground. “Thunder! I’m so glad to…” I paused. I saw that he wasn’t breathing or moving.
“I-Is he d-dead?” I stammered. Mother nodded. A rush of grief filled my body. I ran over to Thunder. I knelt beside him. I rubbed his head. I wanted him to respond, but he didn’t. He lay motionless on the sand, not breathing, not moving.
“Oh Thunder, you were such a great friend.” I whispered in his big, floppy ear. Tears were streaming down my cheeks. I stood up and looked at Mother. “Why couldn’t you save him?” I cried. Mother walked over to me. She hugged me tightly.
“We tried everything that we could, but the damage was too far. I’m sorry, Junie, but Thunder’s gone. Forever.” Mother whispered. I broke free from her grasp and ran out of the grove. I looked around on the island. People were walking around, exploring the humongous island.
Some were crying, others were pacing back and forth, wondering what to do. Valerie trotted over to me. “Well, we should figure out how we’re going to live. A group of people already went into the woods to search for life. Maybe they’ll find help.” Valerie said.
She then ran back over to a group of girls. I sat down on the sandy beach. I realized that I had nothing left. No food, no shelter, no friends, no education, no clothes, and no happiness. The one thing that I missed the most was Thunder.
He was the one who warned me and Valerie. He was the one who saved me from the volcano. He was the one who had been my friend. He was the one who brought me to my mother, and now he’s gone. Gone forever.

It was the night of August 23 the ground became to shake the city of Pompeii . People were screaming dogs were barking and shaking as their owners were crying of terror. “Thunder!” Juno screamed at her dog Thunder. “Arf Arf Arf Arf!” Thunder Barked. The next day the shaking the rumbling got even worse , but what even got worse was the Volcano hot steaming ashes were falling everywhere in pompeii. “ What is happening? Thunder come here we have to get out of here this place is going to fall apart!” Juno screamed to Thunder as he ran to her. Thunder was only 4 years old he was big and brown and Juno was only 15. Her mother died a week ago but Juno promise her mom that she would take care of Thunder everyday. So Juno and Thunder packed a bunch of foods wheat, fruits and some wine to drink. They got on a boat with another family and road away. But the ashes were getting closer to them no matter what the ashes just kept racing to them until it happened. Pompeii was invaded by hot red ,orange and yellow lava. So they peddled and pedeled. Until they got away from Pompeii! Now they can have a happy new life without any Volcanoes stopping them.

I sighed happily as I breathed the fresh air of Pompeii. I sat on the comfortable chairs of a restaurant with my dog, Thunder. Thunder was the best companion I could ever think of. It was like whenever I needed him, he was there. I drank tea and gave Thunder a bowl of water. I was enjoying myself, but just then, my mom called out to me,”Juno, it's time to come home! I’ll let you come again tomorrow.”. My face glum, I scooped up Thunder and walked home. I was just at the door when SMACK! I tripped on my long robes and fell at the doorway. I smiled nervously and tip toed inside.
Thunder ran to his comfortable bed and started barking,” Ruff, Ruff”. I looked around my house. It didn’t have any fancy paintings on the wall but it certainly was grand. I changed my clothes and jumped into the swimming pool. Thunder thundered after me and before I could stop him he lept into the pool to get me! I looked back in the water in time to see Thunder swimming back or should I say doggy paddling back. I giggled as I lifted Thunder to the surface. He licked my cheek. But then, all of a sudden, I heard rumbling everywhere!
I rushed outside to the beautiful streets of Pompeii. No one seemed to be worried about the rumbling. Then, with a stab of fear, I realized that the volcano was the one causing all this rumbling. My mom called me but I ignored it. I tried to warn my friends and neighbors but they weren’t worried. I tried again but they waved me away. I sprinted to where my best friend Venus was. I was sure she would understand. I told her about the volcano but she skipped back to her mom. I tried not to yell at Venus for her reaction. More rumbling was heard. People walked to restaurants or gardens to take shelter, but they seemed just as worried as they were before. All of a sudden, I heard a gush of liquid and the pounding noise of debris!
People were screaming at the top of their lungs. I could make out the shape of the volcano shooting magma and giant rocks out! I thought about what my mom had said about going to the restaurant tomorrow. There might not be a tomorrow for me or Thunder! Thunder, I thought. I screamed,” THUNDER!!”. I heard the excited bark of a young 4-year old dog. I scooped Thunder up in my arms and kissed him on the nose. We had to leave immediately! I sprinted out. I kept running, but then I saw that a huge boulder was barreling its way toward me and Thunder! It was coming way too fast! I braced myself for the impact, but it never came. I saw that I was covered with something soft and furry.
I brushed the dirt and mud off my face and looked around me. Pompeii was still in danger. I looked for Thunder. Then, with a gasp I noticed something gold and brown in the dirt. It looked surprisingly familiar. I gasped! I picked up the now dead body of my bravest companion, Thunder. I sobbed. My brave, brave dog had put himself in front of me in order to save me from the boulder! Nevertheless, I wiped the tears out of my eyes. I had to still get out of Pompeii. I grabbed a blanket and wrapped Thunder in it. I took a pillow and put it on my head. The debris was still falling mercilessly! I dashed away holding Thunder, barely avoiding pieces of wood.
I was still running when I heard the familiar call of,” Juno!!”. I saw my mom hiding under a stable piece of metal! I ran and hugged her. Her happy face dropped when she saw the dead body of Thunder. I explained what had happened. She put her arm around me. Then, she took my hand and urged me to run. I took one last look at Pompeii and sprinted along with her.
No matter what happened to me, I would never forget the beautiful face of Thunder, the bravest dog anyone could ever have.

My name is Thunder. I live in Pompeii. Today is August 23 19AD. By the way, I have a very fun owner. Her name is Juno.

I was just taking a walk with Juno when I saw my best friends, Rocky and Roxsie. “Hi Thunder” exclaimed Rocky. “Hi. Do you want to play” I asked. “Sure.” Roxsie responded before Rocky could say anything. Then we started to run together.

“Seriously, Thunder! Help me up!” I suddenly stopped. As I turned around, there was Juno, lying on the rocky ground knocked over by me. As I came near her, I could smell the best aroma ever. It was an aroma of dog treats! I started to chew on the best thing in my life.

I completely forgot about Juno. “Come on Thunder, we have to go home now.” When I turned around, Juno was not on the ground anymore, she was up on her feet. Slowly we both started to walk home together. Juno and I started to cuddle on Juno’s bed. Finally we started to drift off into deep sleep.

“Juno, Wake up!” I cheerfully barked. “Ok ok, Please stop barking, Thunder.” replied Juno. After all the effort I went through, finally Juno gets up and gets ready. Then we stepped out of our house. Today is August 24 19AD.

We were walking pleasantly with Rocky and Roxsie having a good time. Suddenly, “Boomm!”. Mount Vesuvius started to wake up. “Thunder, Rocky, and Roxsie, we have to get out of here before we die.” recalled Juno. Immediately, my friends, Juno, and I started to run towards a bridge. “I do not think we should do this, since the bridge is old and not strong enough.” recalled Rocky. “Rockie, do not worry just keep on going.” exclaimed Roxsie. As we were crossing the bridge carefully, a piece broke and I fell into it. “HELP!!” I screamed. Luckily, Juno, Rocky, and Roxsie caught me just in time. “Don ‘t worry Thunder. We all got you.” replied all of them as they managed to pull me up. The bridge started to crack as we kept on going. We had lots of fear in our hearts and questioning if we would fall off the bridge but a little hope in our souls that we will make it. Finally with bravery, we reached the end of the bridge. Near the end of the bridge, we found a rusty boat. We all climbed into the boat. Once we were all in the boat, Juno tried as hard as she could to row the boat since it was super old and rusty. She kept on rowing and rowing and rowing.

Eventually, we started to see a country. “I think that is the USA.” replied Juno. Slowly, we left our rusty boat near the boat section and came inside Juno’s sister, Cindy’s house. Then we saw Cindy. “Welcome, Juno. I see that you brought your little friends along” exclaimed her sister. “Yeah” replied Juno. Afterwards, we started to go to Cindy ‘s room. We all started to sleep after the long day. I was the only one awake. As I looked at the sky, I could tell my future, and my future is living with Juno, Cindy, Rocky, and Rocksie in a great, big, and happy family.

    Destruction of Pompeii

One day in was a regular day in Pompeii everybody was doing there own things. Like selling stuff from their small store but only some people realised that the volcano was going to erupt. Some people went on boats to avoid it. Other people stayed in there house because they thought it would be fine. The other people went on horses.

There was a dog named Thunder. He lived in Pompeii like his owner. But Thunder’s owner stayed inside the house because they thought it would be safe. But it was not, they both died and so did the rest of the people that stayed inside. Mt. Vesuvius was one of the most destructive volcanoes ever. The whole city got buried in 10 feet of ash.

10 years later people did not know that pompeii was a city so they tried to build a new city on top of all those pieces of stone and some buildings. But some diggers found the whole city of pompeii so they did not build a city. They made pompeii a museum. They did not want to move they bodies or they would break. So they filled the spaces next to the bones. They brought all of it up and people come all over the world to come see pompeii. Mt. Vesuvius never erupted in a long time but it still erupt whenever.

    The Pompeii Disaster!!!
It was August 24th 79 A.D. in the morning. In Pompeii, Italy. My 4 year old Brown Dog Thunder was taking a nap in the kitchen while I was cooking some delicious brownies that were dog approved. I turned on the TV afterwards and the news said that there will be ANOTHER earthquake the next day. Thunder and I were REALLY getting bored of these earthquakes lately, there were just too many! For the rest of the day Thunder was sleeping and I went to bed after dinner.
The next day there were some LOUD banging noises, Thunder woke up barking real loud, it sounded like he was saying my name, Juno. I knew this was going to happen but I thought that the news said this was going to happen somewhere in the afternoon. Suddenly, the Earthquake had started, “BOOM!” “POW!”. I turned on the news and they yelled screaming to evacuate the city. I didn’t understand why until Thunder RAN up the stairs to the emergency safe, looked out the window and barked for me, I ran as fast as I could to check why he went in there, and there it was…..ASHES!
The fire alarm went off like CRAZY! I looked out the window and everyone was running for their lives, the reason why was because the Volcano had EXPLODED!!! Lava and Ashes were everywhere! Some people were running, some went on some boats and paddled away, and some just stayed in their home ensuring that they will be safe. Then, what i saw was the worst thing I could see, the first three houses on FIRE! I decided to evacuate so I took Thunder hoping that he will just follow me without a leash, and sure enough he did! We ran towards the car and DROVE as fast as I could with him in the car. We were at the edge of the beach, we ran on a medium sized boat and PADDLED as quick as we could. Sure enough we made it to a safe place in Italy. We lived there until then...

One sunny, warm day in Pompeii on August 23rd, Juno was playing with her friend Angelia in the fields. “Catch me if you can!” hollered Juno.Angelia was catching up quickly to Juno when Juno’s dog Thunder came running up to her.He was running in circles like he needed to say something but he couldn’t say it. Both Juno and Angelia were confused. Why was Thunder doing this? But Juno And Angelia just shrugged and got a ball to play with Thunder. About 3 hours later, Juno, Angelia, and Thunder were all tired. It was starting to be night so they all cleaned themselves, ate and went to sleep.

The next morning, the girls went to go do their chores. Juno and Angelia were tired by afternoon. They worked really hard during the day and needed a brake when once again Thunder was running in circles. What was going on with him? Angelia and Juno were really confused. It looked like he was trying to tell them something. “Maybe he wants us to follow him” Juno stated. The girls got up and Thunder bolted down the pavement. “Wait up!” Juno called. They followed Thunder to the mountain Vesuvius. “Thunder, why did you bring us here?” Angelia asked clearly confused. Thunder looked at the top and whimpered.” A-Angelia? Why is there smoke coming out the mountain?” Juno whispered. “Maybe we should run” she suggested.

All three of them ran as fast as they could to their parents. They told them what happened and they all tried to escape Pompeii. But there was a big crowd of people trying to get out. The volcano erupted and a meteor shot out and fell on a house. Everyone started screaming and pushed through the crowd. Then, the mountain shot out lava. The lava was coming very quickly and was killing all the animals. At this point, everyone was tripping over eachother and getting stepped on. The lava was 250 yards away at this point and Juno,Angelia, and their parents were scared. Would they get out alive? The lava came and killed everyone at the back about 10 dozen people were running up ahead trying to escape. Thunder ran up the street and so did the girls. Their parent fell into the lava and Angelia and Juno were about to escape… when they tripped on some stone. The lava cought up to them and killed them too. Thunder, on the other hand, escaped and made it to safety. Another surviver took care of him. That is the end of this story.

    The mysterious volcano

Juno woke up from the crazy noises from outside, of people talking. Then thunder Juno’s dog kept on howling she wouldn't stop. Soon Lantana Juno’s mom called her for breakfast, she came. Today Lantana made pasta for breakfast. While eating Juno asked “why is thunder keep on howling,” Mom said the volcano might explode but we will be safe in here.

“Are you sure.” yes eat quickly eat and rub thunder’s belly and get him,” “ok i’m getting thunder.” Juno went and got thunder and went to mom help me cook lunch so were ready. *BOOM* *BOOM* the volcano exploded, ash was raining from the sky, and people saw lava dripping down the volcano, touching water and sizzling. Most people hid in their houses, Juno, Thunder and Lantana also hid in their house, they said they will be safe in their houses. Some people woke up at 2 in the morning ran really far away. Juno was really scared, she stayed close to her mother and hugged her tightly. They heard ash falling on their house and Juno rubbed Thunder once again , but before she even touched him ashes came raining down and they were still in place, they tried moving out but they were stuck. Soon they were buried alive…...

    One Morning
It was an early morning on a Sunday, but I don’t know what time it is. I was trying to wake up Juno but she didn’t wake up! I looked out the window seeing the bright blue sky, wishing that Juno would wake up and enjoy the blue sky with me. Finally Juno wakes up she looks dizzy. Anyway I bark and bark for food but she just goes into the living room plops herself on the couch like I’m totally invisible!! Mom and dad finally came to make toast with butter and some berries.

Soon mom, dad, and Juno got ready to go to church. I would of course stay home alone because I’m a good dog. Then when mom, dad, and Juno left of course I was so bored. All I could think about was seeing Juno. Then I felt a rumble, after that rumble I saw other people running. I didn’t know what was happening of course because I’m only four years old! I was hoping I would see Juno and that she would help me escape because even tho I’m young I knew something wasn’t right.

Soon I saw people running different ways, the rumbling got bigger more powerful. Some people ran into buildings, but the buildings fell. Soon I saw Juno but she laying down not breathing. I see mom and dad crying. I live with only mom and dad now still wondering what happened to Juno.

    Pompeii

Juno and I dashed around our beautiful vacation villa in Pompeii. I scampered through the central courtyard with Juno on my tail. The scorching hot sun burned the edges of my fur, and I retreated into the shade of the villa.
I finally stopped in the kitchen. “Slow down Thunder!” Juno sternly cried, rushing past a colorful fresco painted on the wall. It was August 24, 79 AD, and the sky was the bluest of blue.

“Come on Thunder, I have to go to the marketplace to get some grapes and wine,” Juno remembered, digging around for a shimmering gold Aureus. I hastily followed her through the garden and to the center of the city. The whole city seemed in a good mood. We walked around the amphitheater. “How odd… Why aren’t there any games today?” Juno asked herself out loud.

We arrived in the heart of Pompeii. Juno told me to sit and hurried off. Juno bought the grapes and dashed back to me with a handful rusty silver denarii clutched in her fist. Juno then ran off and bought the deep purple colored wine. We were walking back toward our villa when there was an odd hiss coming from the mountain. All eyes were then on the Mt. Vesuvius. Animals were sensing danger and ran toward the Gulf of Naples. I was begging Juno to follow me to the sea. But, unfortunately, curiosity got the better of her and she stayed mounted right where she was. “Juno, come on! It’s not safe here!” I cried. But of course all Juno heard was “Woof Woof WOOF!” The odd hissing stopped for a split second and everyone relaxed. As the crowd calmed down there was an sudden ear piercing KABOOM! The top of Mount Vesuvius came flying toward the amphitheater and squished the top of the building, just missing us. The thick, heavy smoke clogged my throat. It would be so easy to just die here, I thought. But no way I was going to give up. We pushed through the crowd. Ash splattered on my rich brown fur, and my throat was now so choked I couldn’t utter a word. Juno and I raced the smoke and ash. We were trampled by the rushing crowd as they stampeded by us. The harbor wasn’t far, but the ash had the advantage. I saw so many people shutting their homes and praying that they would be safe. We got on a boat and raced away.

There was ash everywhere. The unlucky people were screaming for help. They city suddenly quieted. Everyone’s merry mood was now sour. No one dared to go back. When we were safely in the sea, we reluctantly decided to look behind us. The once modern and sophisticated city was now just meters of ash.
